About this conference
The North American Fire Training Directors (NAFTD) invites fire training and education leaders from across North America to attend the 2026 NAFTD Annual Conference, September 14â€"16, 2026, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Hosted by Chief Tracey Normand and the Louisiana Fire & Emergency Training Academy, this year’s conference will provide an outstanding opportunity for collaboration, professional development, and networking among state, provincial, and territorial fire training organizations. The NAFTD Annual Conference serves as a forum for leaders in fire service training and education to discuss emerging trends, innovative training methods, certification and accreditation updates, curriculum development, leadership challenges, and issues impacting the future of fire training systems. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions with peers and industry partners while sharing best practices and successful initiatives from their jurisdictions. Conference sessions will feature presentations and updates from national fire service organizations, government agencies, training organizations, accreditation bodies, and industry partners. Topics will focus on current and emerging issues affecting fire training and education, including professional qualifications, instructor development, technology integration, health and safety initiatives, and evolving operational demands within the fire and emergency services. In addition to educational sessions, attendees will have access to an exhibit and vendor area showcasing the latest products, services, and technologies designed to support fire training academies and training organizations. The conference provides a unique opportunity to connect directly with exhibitors and vendors while exploring innovative solutions for training delivery, simulation, curriculum management, and firefighter development. The conference will also include dedicated networking opportunities that encourage collaboration and relationship-building among fire training professionals from across the United States and Canada. Whether attendees are new to the organization or long-standing members, the event offers valuable opportunities to exchange ideas, discuss common challenges, and strengthen partnerships within the fire training community.
