Michigan Society of American Foresters Spring 2026 Meeting

The Michigan Society of American Foresters' Spring 2026 Meeting focuses on advancing the science, education, technology, and practice of forestry. Attendees can expect a comprehensive program featuring presentations on critical topics such as ice damage recovery, ecology and silviculture after ice damage, maple salvage post ice storm, forests in the Wildlife Action Plan, AI and tree modeling in urban forests, prescribed burn boss training and credentialing, management of the Huron Manistee National Forest, serving Michigan's family forest landowners, and policy priorities for Michigan's forests. The conference will also include updates from national SAF, student and faculty reports, a women's networking event, and specialized Friday field tours covering ice damage research at UM Biological Station, wildlife management and carbon credits at Canada Creek Ranch, recent prescribed fires or burn boss workshops, and the Jordan River fish hatchery. The event welcomes all individuals interested in forestry, including members, non-members, students, and professionals from government agencies, academia, and the private sector.
