About this conference
The IAPT Annual Conference 2026 is a three-day event organized by the Illinois Association for Pupil Transportation (IAPT), dedicated to the safe transportation of students within Illinois. This conference brings together members of the school bus industry for continuing education, networking, and sharing ideas on what's new in school transportation. The event features a Bus Roadeo, Mechanic/Tech Workshops, a Trade Show, and an Awards Dinner. Key sessions include presentations from Illinois state agencies (Secretary of State, ISBE, IDOT), the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) on ELDT Audits and Drug and Alcohol Clearing House updates, and specific training for Bus Monitors and Special Needs Transportation. The conference also includes a keynote address by Jan McInnis titled "Finding the Funny in Change" and workshops on best practices for driver training and state claims.
