High-Impact TEAMS in a PLC at Work® Institute

Meaningful collaboration is the engine that drives every successful professional learning community (PLC). At this professional learning event, you and your team will discover the practical steps needed to harness your collective power and make strong collaborative practices a priority across your school or district. Delivered by PLC experts with decades of experience, each keynote and breakout session thoughtfully addresses key elements of forming and sustaining high-impact teams. Teachers will discover research-backed strategies and tools they can use to set and monitor norms, engage in highly productive conversations, and confront common collaborative challenges. Leaders will learn how to provide the clarity, feedback, and support necessary for teams to grow in their professional practice and fully focus their efforts on the transformational work of PLCs. Together, teachers and leaders from your school community will leave with the inspiration and know-how to improve the day-to-day work of collaborative teams with the ultimate goal of helping all students learn at high levels. The event features a lineup of distinguished speakers, including experts such as William M. Ferriter, Michelle Marrillia, Michael L. McWilliams, Bob Sonju, and Katie White, each bringing years of experience and insight into the dynamics of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). The sessions will cover a variety of topics, including establishing steps for a guaranteed and viable curriculum, determining short- and long-term SMART goals, ensuring singletons are vital members of teams, taking collective responsibility for student learning, exploring ways to monitor student learning through ongoing assessment, determining collective best practices for providing intervention/enrichment, and establishing schoolwide requirements for teams. Participants will leave equipped with research-backed strategies, tools for creating a viable curriculum, and templates for implementing SMART goals. The event emphasizes the importance of collective responsibility for student learning, advocating for team-developed assessments, and establishing schoolwide expectations that still allow teams the autonomy to make key decisions. Attendees can earn course credit through the University of Lynchburg and receive a certificate of participation.
