Grid Enhancing Technologies (GETs) Fundamentals

The U.S. transmission system is currently a significant bottleneck in the energy transition, with renewable generation outpacing infrastructure development. This imbalance creates expanding interconnection queues, lengthy build timelines, and increased congestion leading to reliability risks and rising electricity costs. Utilities and system operators are pressured to integrate renewables, maintain reliability, reduce congestion, and improve asset utilization. While Grid-Enhancing Technologies (GETs) are recognized solutions, their deployment is fragmented.
