Governor’s Hurricane Conference®

The Governor's Hurricane Conference (GHC) is established to present lessons learned and important information about hurricanes to public and private officials, especially local emergency management professionals and those involved in preparedness, planning, response, and recovery at all levels of government, industry, and private interests. Its primary target audience includes first-line responders to tropical weather events. The conference serves as a forum for state and local emergency management officials to exchange ideas and recommend new policies to improve emergency management in Florida. It offers over 300 hours of training and workshops, focusing on current trends, tools, and technology in hurricane preparedness, response, and recovery, providing best practices to improve disaster response/recovery processes. The event emphasizes collaboration and networking among various sectors including government, private sector, healthcare, and voluntary organizations to strengthen collective ability to prepare for, respond to, and recover from tropical events.
