About this conference

The federal government is one of the largest lenders in the world, running more than 175 credit programs across roughly 20 agencies on a portfolio that exceeds 5 trillion dollars, much of it on aging, fragmented systems. The recently introduced bipartisan Federal Loan Systems Modernization Act of 2026 would change how that infrastructure is built and operated, authorizing a shared services platform that gives borrowers a single front door while preserving each agency's program authorities. This half-day session brings together the policy, agency, and legislative communities to explain the current credit landscape, surface what modernization actually looks like inside agencies that have already started, and walk through what the legislation would require, who would build it, and how migration might work in practice.
