About this conference

The annual Electronic Literature Organization Conference (ELO) will be hosted fully online from July 15-18, 2026, by a team based at the University of Central Florida with collaborators globally. The conference theme, "(Un)Supervised," explores various interpretations, including LLM development, and perennial questions regarding observation, readership, and learning within Electronic Literature, especially E-Lit cultures outside institutional settings. The event encourages submissions focusing on computational research questions and generativity, particularly within university environments where community and computational creativity are often contested. It also addresses 'un-institutioning,' such as the federal government's decoupling from research initiatives, and adaptive processes of institution-building. The conference celebrates E-Literary arts across all formats, examining the web, academia, and social platforms as sites for electronic literature creation, community care, and movement. Key themes include E-Lit access, anthologies, archivisms, emerging networks, critical making, digital humanities, E-Lit criticism, generative AI, computational creativity, institutional imaginaries, theories of resistance, anti-racist, feminist, and queer edu-labor, hypertext fiction/poetics, and mixed/extended reality.
