Beyond the Diagnosis Summit

The "Beyond the Diagnosis Summit" is a collaborative event focused on helping educators, families, self-advocates, counselors, administrators, and community professionals better understand students with disabilities beyond their labels. While a diagnosis provides important information, it does not fully capture how factors such as trauma, mental health, nutrition, biology, and environmental factors influence a child's learning, behavior, and overall development. This summit brings together professionals to share insights on how these factors influence various disabilities and how they shape student outcomes. Participants will gain practical strategies to support students by addressing not only their diagnosis, but also the environmental and physiological factors that affect their success. By promoting a whole-child approach, this event empowers participants to create more inclusive, responsive, and supportive learning environments where every student can thrive. Youth-focused session tracks will include Self-Advocacy and Education. CEUs are available for SLPs, LPCs, and Social Workers. The event is sponsored through ESC19 IDEA B-Funds.
