About this conference
Since 2006, the Best Practices Exchange (BPE) has brought together practitioners to share ideas and strategies for managing, preserving, and providing access to digital information. As we celebrate our 20th year, BPE 2026, themed 'Sustaining Best Practices: Humans Required,' invites attendees to reflect on what sustains their work and themselves. The conference seeks proposals exploring how to maintain and evolve best practices in a rapidly changing world, covering topics such as budget and grant funding impacts, navigating new laws (e.g., DEI changes, ADA Title II compliance), balancing authentic selves and professional ethics, and the positive and negative impacts of AI on digital preservation and access. It is an 'unconference,' an informal gathering promoting active participation and peer-to-peer learning to discuss real-world experiences, including best practices and lessons learned.
