American Probation and Parole Association Leadership Institute - Cohort 11

The American Probation and Parole Association's (APPA) Leadership Institute is a highly selective, year-long intensive program designed for current supervisors and managers, as well as emerging leaders, within community corrections. This twelve-month journey focuses on self-discovery and organizational change, providing participants with the knowledge and competencies required of effective leaders in areas such as systems thinking, managing political settings, promoting diverse workforces, and strategic implementation. The multi-disciplinary curriculum combines on-site sessions, web-facilitated learning, group exercises, and project development. The 11th cohort will launch with an on-site session in Chicago, Illinois in August 2026 and will graduate following a final on-site session in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in August 2027. Participants will develop critical thinking skills, analytical abilities, and leadership capacity, while building a national network of colleagues and receiving mentorship from field leaders.
