Alaska School Safety & Well-Being Summit

The Alaska School Safety & Well-Being Summit aims to improve school safety and well-being in Alaska. Educational leaders, key staff, and strategic stakeholders from every district across the state will convene to learn and share methods for promoting healthy development, improving school climate, and enhancing preparedness for any possible school crisis. Objectives include establishing/strengthening a shared understanding of comprehensive school safety and well-being, acquiring concrete tools and skills for implementing best practices, and building peer connections to advance awareness of school health and wellness. The FY27 Summit's theme is "Raising the Sails," focusing on key topics such as Positive School Climate, Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), Suicide Prevention, School Safety, Emergency Operation Planning, Behavior Threat Assessment, Media Literacy/Internet Safety, School Health, Physical Activity and Physical Education, School Nutrition, Educator Wellness and Support, Leading a Safe and Healthy School, Substance Use/Misuse, Teen Vaping/Nicotine Use, Social Emotional Learning, Culturally Responsive Practices, Youth Engagement/Student Voice/Belonging, Family and Community Engagement, Health & Safety Related Policies, and Absenteeism.
