About this conference
The 2027 Southeast Region Conference, themed "Rebuilding Together: Designing for Resilience," will address the intersection of recovery, resilience, and educational design. Inspired by the impact of Hurricane Helene on Asheville and Western North Carolina, the conference invites school designers, educators, leaders, and community partners to explore how design can facilitate community recovery and foster a stronger, more connected future. The event will examine how educational environments can adapt to climate events, enhance community ties, enrich emotional intelligence, and support learning effectively before, during, and after disruptions. Through case studies, conversations, and collaborative exploration, participants will learn how to design alongside communities, moving from recovery to resilience and from rebuilding to reimagining.
