About this conference
The Workforce Development Council (WDC), an affiliate of The U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM), hosts this 37th Annual Congressional Forum and Board Meeting. The WDC serves as the advisory board to develop priorities and recommend policy to the nation's mayors with respect to the workforce system. As a leading voice in the nation for workforce issues faced by cities, this forum acts as a dynamic vehicle for helping Mayors and their staffs address local economic, education, training, and job challenges. It provides an intimate environment for urban workforce development administrators to exchange best practices, develop shared public policy positions, and collaborate to strengthen the nation's locally driven workforce system. The forum actively positions workforce development issues before mayors, congressional leaders, and members of the Administration, covering topics such as Apprenticeships, Sector Initiatives (especially advanced manufacturing), Veterans, Individuals with Disabilities, and Youth Development, with a special focus on Out-of-School Youth and Summer Jobs.
