This symposium will provide attendees with detailed presentations on methodologies for properly accessing, documenting, and interpreting event data recorder (EDR) information from various vehicles, including non-traditional platforms. Topics will cover system limitations, best-practice workflows for data integrity, correlating EDR data to physical evidence, capabilities of different EDR systems (Cummins, Toyota Safety Sense 4.0), vehicle data testing and validation, advancements in Hyundai and Kia EDR data, applied use of yaw rate and speed data in crash reconstruction, Bosch Crash Data Retrieval Tool developments, calculating lateral displacement using EDR precrash data, and analysis of Bendix SafetyDirect data in heavy vehicle crashes. The event has been approved for 22 CEUs by ACTAR.
