2026 Safe Schools & Communities Conference

This two-day event, hosted by the Kentucky Center for School Safety, focuses on promoting school safety across the Commonwealth. It is designed for principals, law enforcement officers, school administrators, school safety coordinators, Directors of Pupil Personnel (DPPs), school mental health professionals, and other school personnel. The conference covers critical topics such as school safety and threat assessment, youth suicide prevention, school crisis management, youth mental health, recovery strategies after tragic events, discussions on medical marijuana, family reunification protocols, and legal updates. Keynote speakers include Dr. Scott Poland, an expert on school safety and threat assessment, and Michele Gay, who shares a parent's perspective on school safety. Attendance at this conference includes membership in the Kentucky Association of School Resource Officers (KYASRO) and the Kentucky DARE Association for law enforcement participants. Educators will be offered EILA credit. The conference is free of charge, with registration on a first-come, first-serve basis.
