2026 NHDES Drinking Water Source Protection Conference

The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) will hold the 2026 Drinking Water Source Protection Conference on Wednesday, June 3 at the Army National Guard Edward Cross Training Complex in Pembroke, New Hampshire. This annual program is a forum for presenting innovative water resources research, sharing information on local protection projects, and training municipal and water professionals. It is designed for water industry professionals, land use planners, members of environmental and watershed organizations, conservation commission members, town selectmen, municipal staff and elected officials. This year's conference will feature a variety of policy and case studies that illustrate how to better protect local drinking water resources, including: An overview of Maine's new state law to limit PFAS in consumer products. Identifying sources of PFAS in wastewater, surface and groundwater. Land conservation and municipal open space planning techniques to protect drinking water. Improving salt reduction practices to limit impacts to groundwater. Addressing cyanobacteria through improved monitoring and treatment optimization. NHDES updates on legislation, rules and funding initiatives for public water systems.
