2026 National Teacher of the Year Program Washington Week

The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) invites you to the 2026 National Teacher of the Year (NTOY) Program Washington Week. This special experience will be held at the Hilton Washington DC National Mall The Wharf from September 28 -- October 1, 2026. Washington Week is an opportunity for the 2026 State Teachers of the Year to visit Washington, D.C., for a week of professional learning and recognition at the national level. Throughout this experience, teachers will engage with influential policymakers and external partners to foster relationships. State Teachers of the Year will have the opportunity to develop ongoing leadership skills, share their messages and delve into innovative teaching practices. Objectives & Goals: Teaching & Learning: The NTOY Program believes that a sense of community and being in community are essential for sustainable growth and belonging. Through learning and collaboration, teachers apply accomplished teaching skills to a wide range of audiences and purposes to enhance learning for all students. Communications & Leadership: The NTOY Program believes in empowering teachers through developing and refining their respective teacher voices as a means to thoughtfully navigate and strategically engage with schools, organizations and communities. Education Policy & Teacher Voice: Utilize teacher experience and leadership skills to prepare for policy discussions to center the needs of all students.
