The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) Staff Subcommittee on Accounting and Finance will host its Spring 2026 conference at the Hyatt House Charlotte/Center City in Charlotte, NC. The purpose of the conference is to provide comprehensive accounting, finance, and utility regulatory information to personnel with all levels of experience working within the ever-changing utility regulatory environment. Attendees will identify current accounting initiatives, standards, and projects at FASB relevant to utilities; understand current issues at the FERC from the Office of Chief Accountant; assess the value of natural gas storage; comprehend double leverage and its implications for regulated utilities; understand changes in cloud computing and recovery options; learn about fair market value fundamentals and their impact for investor-owned water utilities; develop better prompts when using AI; learn to spot issues in rate case filings; understand accounting requirements for asset retirement obligations; understand current changes in federal tax requirements impacting the industry; and identify U.S. legislative issues relevant to utilities and regulators, including specific hot topics at the North Carolina Utilities Commission.
