2026 Kansas Maternal Mortality Prevention Conference

The 2026 Kansas Maternal Mortality Prevention Conference, building on the 2025 A Million Moments convening, is a two-day event focused on innovative, evidence-informed approaches to addressing maternal mortality. Organized by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and partners, the conference aims to unite healthcare, behavioral health, community partners, and advocacy professionals from across Kansas. It will tackle complex issues surrounding maternal mortality by exploring the intersection of physical and mental health, substance use, and intimate partner violence. The conference will highlight integrated approaches to maternal health and seek collaborative solutions to improve perinatal outcomes in Kansas, where 77% of pregnancy-related deaths between 2016 and 2022 were preventable, with behavioral health disorders and substance use being leading contributors.
