2026 GRAC California Legislative Conference

If you're interested in legislative action promoting equity and access within education and want to advocate to legislators in-person, this event is for you! Every year, WACAC members come together to be trained and to execute advocacy efforts in Sacramento and/or Nevada in a meaningful and rewarding way. Sponsored by the Government Relations Committee, the conference focuses on understanding and taking action on current legislative issues in Sacramento and Washington DC that impact the work of association members. After legislative briefings and sessions on training to be a lobbyist, WACAC members share their higher education priorities, expertise, and personal stories in small group lobbying teams with elected officials in the State Capitol. On March 16, attendees will receive a California 101 legislative briefing to understand the process, timelines, budget, bills, and issues facing education in the state. On March 17, attendees will meet in-person with California legislators or their staff to share experiences helping students navigate high school completion, college access, and transition to higher education.
