2026 F.I.E.R.O. PPE Symposium

The 2026 F.I.E.R.O. PPE Symposium is dedicated to improving the safety, performance, and understanding of firefighter protective gear. Attendees will hear from scientists, manufacturers, standards experts, and fire service leaders on emerging research, contamination, PFAS, cleaning, testing, and the future of PPE. The symposium aims to answer questions regarding proper use, care, storage, new materials, technology, protection research, and response to EV fires, helping attendees protect themselves, their coworkers, and their families. The full symposium runs Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (half day). Registration includes a Networking Reception on Monday night, Breakfast (Tues/Wed/Thurs), an Exhibit Hall Grand Reception on Tuesday night, Lunch (Tues/Wed), a professionally bound Resource Manual, and electronic copies of all presentations. IFE (Institution of Fire Engineers) continuing education attendance certificates will be available. Pre-symposium seminars are also offered on Monday, including 'PPE Fundamentals & Program Management' (covering NFPA processes, NFPA 1851 requirements, risk assessments, wear trials, gear specs, and third-party verification) and 'Advanced Gear Inspection Hands-on-Training Session' (focusing on thorough and proper inspection of PPE compliant with NFPA 1851).
