About this conference
The 2026 Directors' Academy, celebrating 50 years of the Maine Administrators of Services for Children with Disabilities (MADSEC), is a professional learning event focused on 'Inspired Leadership for Lasting Impact: Advancing Behavior Supports, LRE, & Student Independence.' Expert speaker Patrick Mulick will discuss how leaders can maximize their influence to reduce restraint and seclusion, increase access to general education settings, and decrease reliance on 1:1 paraeducator support by fostering greater student independence. Erin Frazier, Maine's State Director of Special Services, will provide important updates and pertinent information. Attorneys from Drummond Woodsum will present on special education law. The academy aims to equip leaders with clear strategies for driving improved outcomes and sustaining system-wide growth in special education.
