2026 Arizona Brownfields Conference

The 2026 Arizona Brownfields Conference, co-hosted by the Center for Creative Land Recycling (CCLR), U.S. EPA Region 9, and Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ), is a two-day event dedicated to transforming vacant, contaminated, and underutilized land into community assets. Attendees will gain valuable insights into technical assistance resources, funding avenues, and strategies from various organizations, including CCLR, ADEQ, and EPA. Day one features an in-depth workshop on the principles of brownfield reuse, covering liability, due diligence, site prioritization, community engagement, funding pathways, and reuse planning. This is followed by a mobile tour visiting active and completed brownfield redevelopment sites in Tucson to observe the process firsthand. Day two includes sessions on redevelopment pathways, funding and resource layering, and utilizing ADEQ and EPA resources, culminating in interactive, facilitator-led labs where participants apply tools and frameworks to their own projects or provided examples to advance their brownfields initiatives. The conference also provides opportunities for networking with speakers, sponsors, and other attendees.
