2026 AAUP Higher Ed Summit and Biennial Meeting

The 2026 AAUP Higher Ed Summit and Biennial Meeting will be a gathering of AAUP leaders and members with an emphasis on organizing to meet the political moment and building strong chapters. Attendees will strategize together and take part in workshops focused on the political agenda, shared governance, and essential skills for running effective advocacy and collective bargaining chapters. The event also includes the Biennial Association Meeting, which serves as the formal business meeting of the AAUP, where elections for officers and Council members are held, and constitutional amendments, proposals, and resolutions are voted upon. Summit programming includes tracks on shared governance in a crisis (including putting AAUP policies into action, shared governance and collective bargaining, and faculty on contingent appointments and governance), political action (educating and engaging chapter members, electoral politics, and state-level legislative work), organizing essentials (conducting 1:1s, campaign planning, leader identification, issue campaigns, steward networks, and salary equity studies), and bargaining and faculty handbook development (open bargaining, contract campaign basics, bargaining AI and Edtech, and codifying academic freedom, shared governance, financial exigency, suspension, and termination provisions). The conference will also feature presentation of awards, social events, and plenaries.
