The University of Mississippi Medical Center's (UMMC) 2025 Five-Year Strategic Plan focuses on improving the health and well-being of Mississippians through advancements in clinical care, education, and research. The plan outlines five key strategies: 1. Maximize value in quality of care by improving quality scores, care coordination, and cost-effectiveness; 2. Drive strategic clinical growth by enhancing patient access, expanding telehealth, and investing in physician workforce and outpatient locations; 3. Expand health care services statewide through population health initiatives, strategic affiliations, and expansion of outpatient clinics; 4. Position academic programs for the next generation of learners by improving educational facilities, enhancing faculty development, and promoting a culture of professionalism; and 5. Strengthen research programs by optimizing research space, updating funding models, and expanding partnerships. The plan aims to improve patient outcomes, expand access to care, educate future healthcare professionals, and conduct innovative research to benefit the state of Mississippi.

Year two goals include initiatives to improve operational excellence, enhance care coordination, reduce care costs, optimize strategic affiliations, grow primary care networks, improve ambulatory scheduling and access, implement physician compensation plans, establish an Academy for Excellence in Education, create offices for student and faculty success, initiate a visual identity project, establish external funding goals for research, optimize translational research, assess core facilities, and optimize clinical trial recruitment and revenue. The plan aims to improve the health and well-being of patients and the community through excellent training, innovative research, and state-of-the-art health care, ultimately becoming a premier academic health sciences system recognized nationally for high-quality clinical care, innovative research, and training committed health care professionals.
