Region 12 Council of Governments

The overall vision is to guide the city's long-term development and ensure a high quality of life for its residents.

This comprehensive plan for the City of Coon Rapids, covering the period from 2025 to 2026, serves as a roadmap to address community issues and achieve future goals. It is based on public input, including identified strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The plan outlines strategic priorities across housing, parks and culture, transportation, infrastructure, community facilities, intergovernmental collaboration, economic development, and hazard mitigation, with the objective of enhancing overall community well-being, growth, and economic vitality.

The meeting addressed the amendment of the Transit TIP. Under new business, the committee established the application due date of January 30 for both STBG and TAP funds. Discussions were held regarding the procurement of new traffic counters, local project updates including scholarship achievements, trail bridge construction and maintenance, and news from the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT). IDOT updates included discussions on public input for Denison roundabout proposals and the status of US 30 and US 71 bridge projects.
