Port of Long Beach, Information Management Division
The project will replace the end-of-life asphalt roadway with a new 20-year-life pavement designed in accordance with port and caltrans standards, reducing long-term maintenance costs and bringing the roadway up to current design requirements. To improve traffic flow, enhance safety, and reduce vehicle weaving, the project will reconfigure lanes to separate cars and trucks, consolidate and reconfigure existing ramps, and incorporate intelligent transportation system (its) elements such as dynamic lane-assignment sign boards, changeable message signs, and traffic monitoring. Wayfinding will be improved through the installation of new traffic signs and roadway striping. The project also includes drainage upgrades with a new storm drain system and treatment devices, as well as area beautification through new landscaping, irrigation, and street lighting.
