Pilot Point Independent School District

The meeting included discussion on the proposed budget for the upcoming year, focusing on two scenarios with different levels of self-insurance contributions. There was also a presentation on Parent Square, a new communication platform, and discussion regarding student UIL athletic activities catastrophic insurance. The board also discussed and considered Durham transportation contract amendment and Nortex fiber optic agreement.

The meeting included recognition of Star Students from the Early Childhood Center and Elementary School, as well as Employees of the Month from various campuses. The superintendent reported on the upcoming TASA/TASB Conference, district events, and calendar reminders, along with an enrollment update. A facilities update highlighted completed projects at Massey Stadium and improvements to other buildings. There was also a discussion regarding an energy savings partnership with Ideal Impact Services, and the approval of the Denton County Special Education Cooperative Agreement. The board also took no action on nominations for appraisal district boards and approved the August 2025 financial reports.

The Board discussed the proposed 2025-2026 Tax Rate for the District, District and Campus Improvement Plans, purchases over $50,000 including improvements to the Baseball Field, insurance proposals, Student Code of Conduct, Legislative Updates, prohibiting non-enrolled students from participating in UIL Activities, legal service contracts, a bond election, Contract for Local Excess Revenue, District Contribution to Employee Health Insurance, Donation Summary, Financial Reports, and the proposed 2025 Tax Rate.

The meeting included the swearing in of a new police officer. A presentation regarding legal services was shared with Board members. The Team of 8 training was conducted for Board members and the Superintendent. The Board also discussed and took action on employment and/or resignations, authorizing the Superintendent to approve contracts, and the baseball field bullpen addition.

The District Improvement Plan for Pilot Point Independent School District (PPISD) for the 2025-2026 school year focuses on several key goals. These include increasing the number of students meeting academic standards in grades 3-12 and those on grade level in PK-2, as well as boosting the number of students who are College, Career, and Military Ready. The plan also aims to enhance teacher satisfaction with professional learning, improve parent satisfaction with communication and engagement, and maintain a high FIRST Rating while optimizing funding priorities to support educator professional development.
