Ohio Medical Board

The policy committee meeting included discussions on the rule spreadsheet and schedule, as well as a legislative update. Key legislative topics included criminal convictions, medical marijuana, podiatrist flu vaccines, and pharmacy practices. The committee also addressed the need for a policy on weighing in on appropriate pieces of legislation and discussed mechanisms for doing so effectively.

The Dietetics Advisory Council convened to discuss several key issues. The council approved a motion to recommend a rule in its present form to a policy committee. An amendment to a rule concerning registered dietitians was also discussed, with a vote to recommend the rule to be approved by the Medical Board to file with CSI. Additionally, the board voted to suspend the enforcement of continuing education requirements.

The meeting included a legislative update covering various bills, including those related to criminal convictions, occupational licensing, telehealth services, and medical marijuana. The board discussed the impact of these bills on their licensure processes and standards. There was also an update on CoARC reports and the board's response to the ongoing pandemic, including the suspension of continuing education requirements for license renewals. Additionally, the council received a report on complaints and board actions against respiratory care licensees, including a discussion on minimal standards of care.
