Mille-Isles

The council discussed and resolved to maintain the Municipality's recognized status under the Charter of the French Language, in response to a notice from the Office québécois de la langue française indicating that less than half of the residents have English as their mother tongue. The council confirmed its intention to retain its status and authorized the transmission of a certified copy of the resolution to the Office.

This Family and Seniors Policy for the Municipality of Mille-Isles aims to enhance the quality of life and well-being for families and seniors by integrating their needs into municipal planning and projects. The plan focuses on several key areas: social participation, transport, housing and living environment, safety, health and community support, communication, and administration and monitoring. It seeks to foster a sense of belonging, attract and retain families, and support seniors within the community.

This environmental code acts as a reference tool for the Municipality of Mille-Isles to plan, guide, and monitor actions for sustainable development. It proposes objectives for managing land, water, and living organisms, aiming to protect, restore, and conserve the territory's biodiversity and natural landscapes. The plan outlines a vision for an exceptional living environment that develops in harmony with nature and includes eight thematic pillars: municipal management, air management, water management, soil management, waste management, parks and ecological heritage, nuisances, and energy efficiency. It seeks to ensure public health, quality of life, protect sensitive environments, promote community participation, reduce pollution, and encourage eco-responsible behaviors.

The council discussed various urban planning files, including minor derogation requests and architectural integration plans for residential and commercial construction projects. Financial reports were reviewed, and a contract related to the organic waste collection feasibility study and a regional group insurance program were addressed. The council also approved a social media policy, authorized contributions for parks and public works agreements, cancelled a trail network tender, and granted a donation to a local horticultural society.

The board meeting focused on several contract awards for municipal projects. The council approved the awarding of a contract for development work on the De Volpi-Groome trail network. Additionally, the council awarded contracts for the development of the Tamaracouta Park parking lot, including professional laboratory services for material quality control related to that project.
