Milford Water Department
Work of this contract generally consists of the removal and proper disposal of residuals produced at the street water treatment plant utilizes polyaluminum chloride and potassium permanganate to oxidize organics such as iron and manganese into "floc" which is removed via dissolved air flotation (daf) and filters. The filter float is skimmed off periodically and pumped into one of two lagoons on site. The "sludge" buildup from the filter backwash is also pumped to the lagoons approximately once a year. The lagoons store the spent floc material until it is moved to a drying bed for further de-watering. The dry material stockpiled on site shall be removed and properly disposed of.
