The purpose of MOOR's Buprenorphine Training Grant Program is to distribute funding to the highest-scoring proposals received from county governments to support the costs of training paramedics in buprenorphine administration. Emergency medical services (EMS) personnel are often the first responders to overdoses and, as such, are in the best position to administer naloxone. After receiving naloxone, someone who is physically dependent on opioids will experience withdrawal. Buprenorphine is a medication that reduces withdrawal symptoms, giving survivors of opioid overdose a chance to seek treatment and recovery services through their family, friends, and community partnerships.
