Lorena Independent School District

The board meeting included a student spotlight and reports from the superintendent and various campus levels. The board addressed information items such as student attendance, health services, and board self-evaluation and training. Action items included approval of administrator contract renewals for 2026-2027, the 2026-2027 TEKS Certification Form, the 2026-2027 board meeting calendar, and out-of-state travel for student competition. Additionally, the board entered an executive session to discuss personnel matters, student information, legal consultation, and security audits, before reconvening to approve the administrator's personnel recommendations.

The meeting convened to discuss the selection of a superintendent. The board considered naming a lone finalist for the Lorena ISD Superintendent position, resulting in a motion to appoint Dr. Theodore Clevenger.

The board discussed and took action on a resolution to canvass the election returns from the recent General Election.

The board conducted a budget workshop to discuss financial planning. The meeting was called to order, opened with a prayer, and provided an opportunity for visitor comments regarding agenda items before adjourning.

The council discussed district counseling services and the referral process for Klaras, an external agency providing additional support. Recommendations for the upcoming board report were developed, including the continuous monitoring of energy drink consumption, the management of vape detectors at the high school and middle school, the completion of the district CERP, and the placement of Narcan in all AED boxes to improve emergency accessibility. Additionally, the committee reviewed the current membership status and the rotation process for SHAC members.
