Long Beach Airport (Daugherty Field)

The City of Long Beach is undertaking two planning initiatives: an update to its Downtown Plan and the creation of a Downtown Shoreline Vision Plan. The Downtown Plan Update focuses on preventing displacement, promoting affordable housing, and modernizing urban development standards for the area north of Ocean Boulevard. The Downtown Shoreline Vision Plan aims to establish a long-term vision (20-50 years) for the shoreline area south of Ocean Boulevard, defining policies and zoning to create a dynamic, community-centered environment that balances residential, commercial, and recreational needs. Both efforts prioritize extensive public engagement to ensure equitable and sustainable development.

The City of Long Beach's Fiscal Year 2023 Proposed Budget presents a comprehensive financial roadmap focused on strategic investments and community priorities. This budget allocates significant funding towards a half-billion-dollar infrastructure plan, expanded initiatives for addressing homelessness, critical enhancements to public safety, and the establishment of a new Office of Climate Action. Additional focus areas include promoting equity and inclusion, supporting economic development, fostering arts and culture, strengthening the workforce, and maintaining core city services.
