The project involves the renovation of an existing 1,722-sf chemistry laboratory and associated support spaces to create a modern, flexible, and technology-enhanced learning environment that meets the instructional needs of the Chemistry Department. The work shall be executed in a two-phase delivery, beginning with Package 1 (Phase 1) – Support Spaces, which focuses on the renovation of laboratory support spaces, including the conversion of designated areas into a new glass storage room, as well as safety enhancements and mechanical upgrades required for the NMR room to support continued operation and future laboratory needs. Package 2 (Phase 2) – Lab 206 Renovation shall follow with the full renovation of Lab 206. The scope includes the demolition of outdated casework, flooring, ceilings, finishes, and the selective reconfiguration of adjacent spaces to optimize the overall laboratory footprint. The new design shall incorporate durable, chemical-resistant casework; upgraded ventilation systems; and new fume hoods that meet current safety and performance standards. Additional improvements shall include HVAC upgrades to ensure proper exhaust, enhanced electrical and plumbing infrastructure, and integrated technology systems such as data ports and audiovisual components to support instructional delivery. The layout shall feature movable furniture and modular storage to promote collaboration, adaptability, and efficient use of space. Project-wide safety enhancements shall include emergency eyewash and shower stations, fire-rated chemical storage, spill containment measures, and emergency utility shut-off controls. All work shall be completed in full compliance with applicable NFPA, OSHA, ANSI, ADA, and institutional safety requirements
