Kanawha County Solid Waste Authority

The Kanawha County Comprehensive Litter and Solid Waste Control Plan is a five-year update designed to provide efficient, safe, and healthy solid waste management for Kanawha County citizens and promote environmental preservation through waste reduction. The plan outlines nine key goals: reducing waste volume through recycling, ensuring safe and cost-effective municipal solid waste management, mitigating water degradation by eradicating open dumps, enhancing public education on waste management, assessing facility adequacy, standardizing recycling collection, increasing the overall recycling rate, promoting product reuse, and communicating the true costs of recycling and disposal. The overarching vision is to protect public health, safety, welfare, and the environment for a 20-year period by minimizing landfill waste and maximizing recycling.
