The department of transportation (idot) requires interior renovation of its district 8 headquarters building (jdg01), a two‑story, 117,200 SF facility constructed in 1987 and shared with the state police (isp). Approx. 53,000 SF are occupied by isp, with the remaining areas occupied by idot and shared common spaces. The project scope includes full interior finish upgrades, reconfiguration of office and lobby areas to improve operational efficiency, renovation of all idot and lobby restrooms, modernization of mechanical systems to address heating, cooling, ventilation, and noise deficiencies, and upgrades to lighting, it/communications systems, fire detection, and security systems. The traffic management center (tmc) requires a complete renovation but must remain operational for the entire project duration. The work requires extensive phasing to maintain partial building occupancy throughout construction. If asbestos or lead are encountered, they will be addressed under separate contract authority. Design must comply with the stretch energy code where applicable.
