Construction of a floodplain restoration project consisting of the implementation of bench cuts and plantings along the mill river in georgia, vermont. This project is being completed to improve ϐloodplain access and restore riparian habitat along this reach of the mill river to increase sediment retention and phosphorus removal during ϐlood events. 1. The contractor shall complete the following task items for the bench cuts: 2. Mobilize & install project demarcation fence. (fea to review and stake out project area with contractor at a pre-construction meeting) 3. Install erosion control measures including silt fence 4. Excavate the bench cut as shown on the plans and relocate cut material (total cut ≈ 1,200 cy) to two disposal areas onsite as shown on the plans. 5. Stockpile soil from the bench cut in designated areas a. Landowner requests the dirt pile to be located near the manure pit. B. Remaining ϐill may be spread on-site following the corn harvest. C. If preferred, remaining ϐill may alternatively be trucked off-site by the contractor, as indicated in the bid. 6. Spread soil from bench cut in designated areas 7. Seed and mulch bench cut areas (area ≈ 15,000 sf). Replant bench cut areas with native shrubs and trees at 10’ spacing. Contractor is responsible for purchasing and acquiring all plants needed for the project. 8. Restore or stabilize all disturbed areas, including disposal areas, as needed and close out project site.
