The board meeting and work session focused on several key items. Representatives introduced new student school board members for the class of 2027 and shared highlights regarding their accomplishments. Several staff members were recognized for their 25 years of dedicated service to the district, with individual tributes detailing their roles and contributions. Additionally, school board members were honored for their years of service through the PSBA honor roll program. The meeting concluded with a message from the UDA President regarding the start of a new school year and appreciation for administrative communication during the summer.
The board meeting included a detailed superintendent's report focusing on summer capital improvement projects, the opening of a new middle school, staffing updates, and the implementation of a new elementary English and language arts curriculum. Committee reports addressed various operational and educational topics, including Title I school-level plans, professional development frameworks, and specific district policies. The Finance and Operations Committee presented the final 2026-2027 general fund budget. The board also reviewed and adopted reports concerning instruction, curriculum, and personnel.
The committee meeting covered four main agenda items. The first was an overview of the district's comprehensive planning process for the 2027-2030 school years. The second item was the annual school safety update, which detailed emergency protocols, including lockout, lock-in, and lockdown procedures, the transition of communication systems like DelPass to Crisis Go, and ongoing collaboration with local law enforcement. Additionally, the committee engaged in a discussion regarding artificial intelligence and student screen time, and reviewed policies related to charter schools.
