The council recognized the upcoming America 250 anniversary with a proclamation. Several RFP results were reviewed and approved, including contracts for the LMIG Resurfacing Project, the Castleberry Road parking lot construction, the Kemp Drive water main replacement, the purchase of a crane truck, and water laboratory analysis equipment. The Planning Commission held a regular scheduled meeting to consider the adoption of the meeting agenda. No other old or new business items were presented, and no announcements were made.
The Planning Commission evaluated two rezoning requests by Shree RE Developers, LLC. The first request involved rezoning 3.57 acres from Office Commercial Multi-Story to Highway Business for the construction of a retail center, including variance requests for building setbacks and lot coverage. The second request involved rezoning 32.67 acres from Office Commercial Multi-Story to Moderate-Family Residential for the construction of an age-restricted subdivision of eighty-nine single-family detached units, with associated variance requests for building setbacks, lot size, and width. Both requests were recommended for approval to the Council with specified conditions.
The council recognized an Eagle Scout for his achievements and proclaimed National Gun Violence Awareness Day. A representative from the Rushton Group provided a summary of the 2025 audit report. The council passed a resolution authorizing participation in an Amicus Brief for the case of Chang v. City of Milton. Additionally, a Conditional Use Permit and associated variances were approved for a warehouse development project on Veterans Memorial Boulevard following a public hearing. The meeting also included announcements regarding the upcoming Memorial Day ceremony and facility closures for the holiday, as well as an executive session to discuss litigation.
The council issued proclamations for Screen-Free Awareness Week and Falun Dafa Day. Key business items included the approval of a site plan for a collision and body shop at Lanier 400 Parkway. The council also authorized the purchase of several pickup trucks for the Utility Billing and Water Production divisions and awarded a contract for water main replacements on Dr. Bramblett Road and Franklin Goldmine Road. Additionally, the council approved a water line easement agreement with CVS at the SR20 and SR306 connector and conducted an executive session to discuss pending or threatened litigation.
