Strategic actions focus on continuous operational improvement, strengthening relationships with students, parents, and knowledge keepers, and prioritizing the hiring, training, and retention of Nunavimmiut staff to collectively advance student success.

The council reviewed administrative operations including student record management, data governance strategies, and the progress of the Arqusiurtiit and Sivumuattiit initiatives. Key discussions addressed employee retention incentives for unionized staff, the critical need for increased staff qualifications, and strategies to combat school bullying. Additionally, the board examined capital investment projects and infrastructure requests for the Quebec Infrastructure Plan, reviewed IT service activities regarding network security and software development, approved the 2026-2027 school calendar, and addressed ongoing teacher shortages through support measures like summer courses and emergency childcare services.

Sivumuattiit is a 4-phase strategic planning process initiated by Kativik Ilisarniliriniq to enhance student success in Nunavik. Launched in June 2024, this year-long inclusive consultation process aims to re-imagine support for students. Key focus areas include working together, teaching and learning, addressing student needs and options, fostering student investment in learning, supporting Inuit staff and all staff, engaging the community, and promoting self-determination. The plan, guided by four validated strategic priorities and action areas, seeks to define a shared vision, empower stakeholders, and reinforce cultural awareness to improve student outcomes over a five-year period, commencing in 2025.
