Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System Strategic Plan 2025-2029
The Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) Strategic Plan outlines a commitment to ensuring eligible Arizonans maintain healthcare coverage and access high-quality whole-person health care. The plan focuses on enhancing the closed-loop referral system, investing in rural and justice-involved healthcare initiatives, streamlining eligibility processes, offering provider training and technical support, and strengthening fraud, waste, and abuse detection. Key outcomes include increasing active management of cases for members with health-related social needs, reducing preventable disenrollments, decreasing emergency department visits for justice-involved members, improving preventive care measures to meet national standards, and increasing the approval rate of claims submitted for prepayment review. The ultimate vision is to be a recognized national leader in whole-person public health care.
