The meeting included various awards and recognitions for students and coaches in sports such as baseball, track and field, soccer, softball, tennis, wrestling, and golf across South Florence, West Florence, and Wilson High Schools. A public participant requested that the district provide written procedures for naming facilities in accordance with Board Policy FF. The board approved financial statements, personnel sheets, and a field trip request. Additionally, a memorandum of agreement with Florence-Darlington Technical College was approved to offer a Spanish immersion program at West Florence High School. Finally, the board reviewed a draft of Policy JFAB concerning the admission of non-resident students to comply with new state legislation.

The board meeting focused on several key items including the acknowledgement of school district achievements, such as maintaining high state assessment scores and receiving financial transparency awards. The board approved financial statements and personnel sheets. Additionally, they authorized a construction contract for the Williams Middle School athletic fields, which includes the demolition of old structures and the installation of new sports facilities, including a walking track for the community. The board also approved a lease agreement for property designated for a tiny homes project intended for the homeless population, in partnership with the House of Hope. Furthermore, the board approved new honors framework courses for drones, marketing, and piano, as well as an advanced horticulture concepts elective.

The meeting featured various recognitions and awards, including naming Carver Elementary a 2026 Palmetto's Finest School and presenting the STEM Teacher of the Year award to Ben Johnson. Other recognitions included the Southeastern School Behavioral Health Academy Leadership Award, the selection of a work-based learning student of the year, and the South Carolina All-State Art Contest winner. The meeting also recognized South Carolina Junior Scholars and the state champion girls' tennis team from West Florence High School, as well as IB Diploma seniors from Wilson High School.

The meeting included the recognition and presentation of North Vista Elementary School and school board members. Action was taken to name athletic facilities at South Florence High School. Discussions were held regarding a seven-phase superintendent search process, a bond sale update, an update on school uniform implementation, a proposal to reschedule an October board meeting, a briefing on the Affordable Care Act's impact on district personnel, and a facilities progress report. Financial reports were reviewed, and the board entered executive session to deliberate on legal, personnel, and contractual matters.

This plan outlines Florence One Schools' strategy for a safe return to in-person instruction and continuity of services, as required by the American Rescue Plan Act. Key priorities include implementing comprehensive health and safety measures based on CDC recommendations, such as mask policies, physical distancing, hygiene, facility cleaning and ventilation, contact tracing, diagnostic testing, vaccination efforts, and appropriate accommodations for students with disabilities, all coordinated with state and local health officials. Additionally, it focuses on ensuring continuity of academic, social, emotional, mental health, and food services for students and staff, with provisions for periodic review and public input.
