The Office of Independent Investigations (OII) was established in 2021 to conduct thorough, transparent, and unbiased investigations of police use of deadly force. Its mission is to deliver fair, competent investigations, with a vision for all such investigations to be free from bias and trusted. The organization operates with core values of Integrity, Dedication, Accountability, Improvement, and Equity. OII's strategic direction involves developing its organizational structure, staffing regional offices, and engaging an Advisory Board to guide policies and procedures, including a specific focus on IT strategic planning.
