The committee discussed the revised Student Wellness Policy approved by the MCIU Board of Directors and how the policy was working for represented programs. Ideas and solutions for fundraising compliant with the policy were developed. The committee discussed creating a handout of fundraising ideas and rewards. The School Wellness Policy Evaluation Tool was introduced to evaluate how well the policy is written and functioning. The committee members will score the MCIU policy, and an objective opinion will be obtained from another organization for comparison. The winter meeting will focus on determining points awarded to each area of the policy and finalizing guidance for fundraising and rewards.

Proposed updates for the MCIU Student Wellness Policy were discussed, including aligning the policy with the PSBA template, adding language to include Pre-K, and incorporating Smart Snack guidelines. The possibility of starting a Summer Food Service Program was also explored.
