The primary discussion centered on the potential utilization of Neffy (nasal epinephrine) in schools as an alternative to traditional intramuscular (IM) epinephrine injectors. Key debates included the ease of administration, user-friendliness (avoiding injections), potential efficacy (FDA approval and absorption rates cited), and concerns regarding the administration to panicked individuals or those with structural nasal issues. The consensus shifted toward exploring the possibility of stocking both IM and nasal forms, provided staff training covers both delivery systems, following confirmation that stocking both is permissible under state law (SB 1619). A secondary topic addressed communication methods for future meetings, with members agreeing to transition from lengthy email threads to a platform like Microsoft Teams or Zoom for better chronological flow. The meeting adjourned after motions were passed to investigate stocking both epinephrine forms and to use a chat platform for the next meeting.
