The board discussed various legislative and budget reports from the ADF&G, DEC, and DFFP, including updates on timber management leases, Tanana Valley State Forest expansion, and wildfire prevention plans. Key discussions focused on the Shared Stewardship Agreement, compliance monitoring, and the 2025 Annual Report. The meeting also addressed forest management updates from the Mental Health Trust, Good Neighbor Authority projects, and regional reports for Coastal and Northern areas. This document outlines the draft North Slope Area Plan, a blueprint designed to guide activity on state land and waters in the North Slope for the next 20 years. The plan classifies approximately 12 million acres of state-owned lands and defines management intent for these areas, including categories such as material, oil and gas, resource management, public recreation, settlement, transportation corridor, water resources, and wildlife habitat lands. Its primary focus is to ensure a multi-use approach to land management, balancing oil and gas resource significance with the protection of unique fish and wildlife habitats and important cultural and traditional land uses, while involving stakeholders in the planning process.
