The Webster County Board of Education LSIC Meeting included discussions and presentations on various topics such as the Teacher and Service Personnel of the Year, school performance, student outcomes, and academic goals, including reports from Webster County High School LSIC on JROTC, Welding, Carpentry, Health Science, Business, Band, and HSTA. Approvals were considered for a central WV animal hospital to set up an animal clinic, MOA with Mission WV, Inc. and Partners, dual credit courses at Webster County High School, and the school calendar for FY 23-24. The board also discussed personnel matters, including extracurricular and service personnel positions, resignations, substitute teachers, probationary and continuing contracts, and terminations due to Reduction in Force and Transfers. The superintendent provided updates on bullying survey results, ECCAT Aides for the FY 23-24 school year, attendance and discipline, and information on vape detectors.

The 2023 Golden Horseshoe winners were presented with certificates, and an attendance update for the county schools was given. The board discussed and took action on a resource officer for WCHS, voted for a board member to represent the WVU Extension office and SESC, and considered approving the FY2024 Budget pending WV Department of Education approval.
