The new Long-Range Plan for Muskellunge through 2040 outlines the strategic direction for muskellunge management in Minnesota. Its primary focus is to improve existing muskie populations and enhance high-quality angling opportunities through sustainable management. Key objectives include increasing the survival of stocked fish by shifting towards yearlings, expanding the use of natural ponds for rearing, and investing in new hatchery infrastructure. The plan also addresses the management of hybrid muskies in the Twin Cities metro area, focusing on developing new sampling methods and improving outreach and education on the role of muskies in fish communities. This plan was developed with extensive public input and research.

The board meeting addressed various administrative and operational items. Key topics included approval for hiring a land use permitting specialist, accepting an annual boat and water safety grant, and approving a new online payment agreement with Tyler Technologies for vital records.
